Celebrating their 10th anniversary, the UKATA Excellence Awards ceremony on Friday 6th July 2018 recognised member companies and individuals who have made an impact on UKATA and the wider asbestos industry. The glittering award ceremony followed UKATA’s Annual General Meeting and Asbestos Conference which saw a number of high profile guest speakers address more than 100 delegates.
UKATA is the leading authority for asbestos training provision in the United Kingdom. Tasked by the HSE in 2008 to manage the licensed asbestos training providers, UKATA has gone from strength to strength and now has more than 180 member organisations from all corners of the UK. Individuals and organisations could be nominated or apply for 3 of the 6 award categories including Advertising Campaign; Corporate Social Responsibility; Customer Service; Workforce Development; Training Initiative; and Innovation.
Olympic track and field legend Kriss Akabusi MBE hosted the ceremony and presented the awards to the six finalists. UKATA General Manager, Craig Evans said: “We are delighted to have Kriss Akabusi on board with our first ever UKATA Excellence Awards. His dedication, commitment and achievement throughout his career mirrors UKATA’s growth since it was set up in 2008.”
Our training team has nearly 70 years combined experience in the asbestos management industry. John Evans (Consultancy Director) and Ellie Clarke (Asbestos Training Consultant) were delighted to accept the Customer Service Award on behalf of Santia. John has been with Santia since its first inception nearly 25 years ago as National Britannia and has held a number of senior positions in the business. Ellie joined Santia less than two years ago and her career has accelerated rapidly, the business has recognised her passion, capability and enthusiasm by investing in her professional development. Our Principal Trainer, Nik Porter is highly qualified and experienced trainer who in addition to training, has undertaken a number of strategic consultancy commissions on behalf of our customers following his courses.
Together, our training team has received outstanding customer feedback for our UKATA, BOHS and bespoke training courses, which heavily contributed towards our most recent customer survey results which show that 95% of our customers are ‘very satisfied’ or ‘satisfied’ with our services.
