The health effects that asbestos can cause are always in mind when working in this industry, which is why Santia is committed to supporting A.A.S.C. The focus or mission of A.A.S.C. is to strive to make the lives of those living with asbestos related illnesses and their families better. Over the years A.A.S.C. has established regular group meetings, days out, raised awareness and provided signposting for information and telephone support for victims of asbestos related diseases.
The event was centred around A.A.S.C.’s Future Generations Project, which aims to educate the younger generation of the dangers of asbestos to try to prevent them from suffering from asbestos related diseases in the future.
We were invited to watch a dove release outside the merchant Seafarer’s War Memorial, followed by tea and presentations starting with Jeremy Miles (AM).
Santia’s presentation, delivered by John Evans, Technical Director and Ellie Clarke, Training Consultant, focussed around current asbestos legislation, how to achieve compliance and what we expect in the future.
