Cancer Research UK is one of two charities chosen by Santia in 2019 given many of our colleagues, family members and close friends have been affected by cancer in the past and the present. We are delighted to be represented by Craig and his children in this year’s Swimathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
This will be the third Swimathon that Craig has participated in, entering first in 2017 with his daughter Ella and in 2018 with both his daughter and son Corey. ‘Team Jones’ have previously raised almost £2,000 for a variety of causes and have proactively encouraged many other people to do likewise for the 2019 event.
A keen swimmer, Craig supported the management team of his local leisure centre (Heolddu) to officially sign up to this year’s Swimathon, to ensure representation in Caerphilly County Borough. With over 30 people already set to take part in the event at the venue, a significant amount of money should be raised for charity.
Craig said: “I hope my continued annual participation encourages other staff within our business to sign up to participate in their locally run Swimathon’s. With just under a month to go, there is still time to train and enter and if not this year, maybe set a goal to participate next year. It’s great for fitness, wellbeing and of course raises funds for Cancer Research UK”
Signing up is easy, go to the Swimathon website https://www.swimathon.org and find your nearest venue. Then “enter now” to select either an individual or team challenge distance to suit your ability. Enter your personal details, confirm a date and time which suits, make payment and you will be registered with the venue and a Just Giving page will be created ready for you to personalise. From there it’s a case of training, fundraising and enjoying!
